"Awesome accommodations My husband, step-daughter and her best friend booked a Busch Gardens/Adventure Island Vacation Pkg. and we stayed at the Wingate by Wyndham and from the time we arrived we had the best hotel experience. It was our first time staying at a Wyndham and we were all very impressed and felt right at home, the General Mgr. Gary even took a picture of my family in front of the Busch Gardens Giraffe in the lobby on the day we checked out. We all loved the breakfast buffet, the girls took full advantage of the pool and my husband and I enjoyed happy hour after a long day at the park. After our first stay, my husband and I have decided that whenever we travel we will definitely be staying at a Wyndham Hotel. "

"It's all been said - we agree with the excellent reviews. We were in town for a couple of days for a family wedding and received a block rate for our room. All the wonderful things everyone has said are true and we had a great couple of days there. A couple of people I would like the mention : the breakfast attendant was extremely cheeful and helpful every day. She kept the area spotless and constantly restocked the (delicious) food items. After our social engagements in the evening we returned to the hotel and sat around in the breakfast area with some friends to socialize and drink a couple of glasses of wine. The evening desk clerk went out of her way to rustle up some real wine glasses for us (as opposed to disposable cups) and even washed them for us before use. We had not requested this - she just did it! She also remade coffee and unlocked the juice machine. This was truly great service and all done with a cheerful attitude. My husband used the fitness center and had no complaints. "

"Best staff ever. I had the pleasure of staying, for 4 nights in this hotel. I have been a travel consultant for over 40 years and have stayed in most of the 5 star hotels around the world.. This hotel is one of the best run hotel's I have had the pleasure of staying in. George Sandona, the general manager made sure that his guests had the best service that could be had in any hotel. Although not in the category of a Ritz Calton as to the rooms the service far exceeded any. Rooms were very clean and certainly adequate. Cudos to George and his staff. "

"“Excellent Hotel, Breakfast, Comfy Beds, Lovely PoolThis was our first time. We stayed for 2 days, we didn't want to leave. The hotel was so clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was facing the trees on the 3rd floor, just awesome, had fridge, flat screen tv. We used the excecise room and the pool. Very Nice. The pool was heated to a lovely temperature. We were staying at this hotel before we went to Dunedin Fl. We were unfamilair with the area, the staff was so helpful on restaurant choices and directions, we like the area very much. "Highly recommended safe, clean and priced right hotelWe were traveling from Michigan with our 2 children and we came upon the reviews here on Tripadvisor. We stayed for 4 nights and we just loved it! The hotel is very clean. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. My only small issue is having to ask for an extra towel set (they gave us 3 sets daily) even though we were on record as having 4 people in the room. Staff was very nice about giving us the extra towel set. The hotel is one of the cleanest I have ever stayed in. We took advantage of the hotel's Busch Gardens package which saved us a few extra bucks. We were so happy that the hotel is also close to gas stations, restaurants and shopping in a very safe area of NEW Tampa. The Wingate is THE hidden gem of Tampa! We can't wait to return next year."

"Great hotel with great serviceWe stayed here for a week in Mach with out 1 and 3 year old daughters. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and were so friendly. The breakfast was great with lots of selection. The pool was nice too. The hotel was about 5 minutes from Busch Gardens and had many restaurants nearby. We were near a great hiking trail as well. We went to Clearwater beach once (about 45 minutes away). We would definitley stay here again."

"Great value!We stayed 3 nights at the hotel with Busch Gardens length of stay tickets. The rooms were super clean and comfortable, the housekeeping was impeccable and the breakfast selections were great each day, from eggs to make your own waffles. There is free computer use in the business center or you can choose to have free internet access in your room on your own laptop. There is an outside heated pool as well as a hottub for your use. I would highly recommend this place as it is nestled away from the business of the city in the woods, just be careful near the pond, there ARE alligators in there we were informed :). Also the beds and pillows were the best, we brought our own pillows but did not need them."

"Very clean - very good breakfast convenient to many restaurantsHotel was new and very clean. Breakfast was very good with many choices- fresh waffles, yogurt, many cereals, muffins and bagels. Hot items for the week included eggs, sausages, breakfast burritos and breakfast pizzas (hot items varied day to day). The pool was small, but nicely kept and sufficient for my 7 and 5 year old. Everyone we encountered from the office to housekeeping was very pleasant. There are countless restaurants within 1 mile or so (Chilis, Panera Bread, Ruby Tuesday, Fridays, Macaroni Grill...), Walgreens is within walking distance, and Busch Gardens is about 6 miles down the road. We also went to the beach and to a Rays Game in Tampa during our stay. Each trip took us a little over an hour, which is why I think that if we returned, we may stay somewhere closer to the gulf. It wasnt super convenient if you plan to go to the beach or downtown a few times. But other than that, I have no complaints. It was a tremendous value, very clean and pleasant."

"Best value for a safe, family friendly, well located hotel.We were traveling from Bradenton back to Mississippi and I saw the reviews as #1 here on tripadvisor. We ended up staying two nights instead of one! The hotel is very clean. It has an outdoor heated pool an indoor HUGE whirlpool a fitness center a business center and a large free breakfast buffett. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is one of the cleanest I have ever stayed in. The beds rival the ones found in 5 star hotels. The location is just off of interstate 75 and is only a few miles from Busch Gardens. It is also close to gas stations, restaurants and shpopping. Yet it is tucked away in a very nice and safe offstreet. If you are looking for an affordable, safe, clean family hotel, then the Wingate is THE hidden gem of Tampa!"

"Excellent customer service, friendly/knowledgeable front desk, great breakfast!The manager and front deask help were very helpful and accommodating - they recommended restaurants, shopping areas, and arranged shuttles for evening excursions and trips to the airport. "Looking forward to returning one dayFrom start to finish-a great stay. Staff were great and very friendly-even my teenager liked the staff that she was involved with Room was very comfortable and they were able to make requested changes since we are unable to use the down pillows provided-no problems in getting extra towels when asked. Since it was just my teen and me, asked that they leave the clean up until we checked out which did not present then with any problem Grounds were well managed unable to use the pool due to the weather but it looked like it could have been a lot of fun-Gym was great Breakfast fresh, hot, and ample to start the day and no problems in taking items back to the room if you wanted to. A little off the regular hotel area but close to Bush Gardens, Orlando, Downtown Tampa-right off the freeway. Great restaurants and fast food locations within walking distance. Hope to be able to return later this year if not next year for sure."

"Excellence at the Windgate - If you are looking for cleanliness and impeccable customer service and convenience, this place exceeds your expectations. I was pleased to find they offered Special Rates for Moffet Cancer Center families and transportation. Along with genuine personal support and encouragement for us. They also were flexible with accomodating our schedules. The Hotel is bright, cheerful and homey, the full breakfast also was so convenient to start your day, wether you were there on business or other reasons, and Happy Hour evenings took some of the stress and tension from any day, or to celebrate good news! We appreciated all the extra services including recommendations on where to dine in the area.. suggestions were flawless. Circumstances dictate more trips to Moffitt and to be sure Windgate will be where we stay. Kuddos to all* the staff."

"Love this hotel! I stayed at this hotel in April 2008, so it was a while back, but I feel compelled to add to the myriad glowing reviews. This hotel was a great value. There were so many positives, I don't know where to start. The staff hospitality puts this hotel well above and beyond any hotel at which I've ever stayed. Richie, the manager, took great care of us. We did not have a car during our 2-day stay. We simply put in a request at the front desk to use the free shuttle service for things like dinner and shopping. Richie recommended the Stonewood Grill & Tavern for dinner. (This was an excellent suggestion - great dinner.) He took us right to the door, and picked us up again when we were ready to return to the hotel. We felt like royalty being chauffeured! Richie also recommended shopping at the Shops at Wiregrass the next day. We set the time and he again chauffeured us. (Great advice again - the shops were like an outdoor mall, very pleasant.) "Wonderful Hotel and Staff I stayed at the Wingate on Dona Michelle Drive for 2 days after New Years. There are two Wingates in the area and the one I stayed at was farther away from Busch Gardens (BG). I thought the web site indicated free transportation to BG but this may have been for the Wingate that is closest to BG. This is the first time I have stayed in Tampa without an auto. I now realize how stranded one could feel without a car! The manager of guest relations was so wonderful to provide me a ride to BG- She was just fabulous and I'm sorry I forgot her name. The young man at the front desk was also very kind and welcoming.

"Great place to stay. The Wingate was a great place to stay. Our room was nice and quiet. It was on the back side of the hotel which faces a quiet wooded area. The room had everything as advertised - a comfy king size bed, sofa, free wireless and wired internet, flat screen plasma TV, small fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The free breakfast is the morning was good, pretty standard continental breakfast fare along with some hot items. The hotel is close to I-75, so getting around town is very convenient. I would definitely stay here again when I'm in Tampa. Also, I'd recommend booking through the hotel's website directly. They have the best rate, easily beating any of the third party sites (even if you factor in the "free" gas promos that are popular nowadays), and I didn't have to pay in advance."

"Pleasantly surprised. We were not expecting to stay at this hotel or in this area. We went to Clearwater Beach first but were very unimpressed with the hotels in that area, so we came upon this property. We had Busch Gardens tickets so we decided to stay close to that park. This hotel is roughly 10 minutes from Busch Gardens. On arrival we thought the hotel was in the middle of nowhere and were thinking why would they have a hotel in this area. However over our stay we did notice it was NOT in the middle of nowhere, there were plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. The hotel was clean. The pool was like bath water, very warm. Our kids enjoyed our stay at the hotel. So if you are looking for a place to stay and DO NOT want to be by water but want to be by Busch Gardens this hotel is for you. Again it is roughly 10 minutes from Busch Gardens."

"A really nice place to stay. Located across the street from the campus of the University of South Florida, this was a pleasant surprise. OK, it's not the Ritz, but is very clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and my room was one of the best accessible rooms I've ever had. It's surrounded by restaurants, malls, attractions (Busch Gardens) and if you have business at the university, it's a lot less expensive than the Embassy Suites across the street. The free breakfast was good and filling, and you can make your own waffles. The pool, fitness room and whirlpool are open 24-hours per day and there is a guest laundry. My room was equipped with a refrigerator and microwave and free safe. It's a little on the plain side, but I enjoyed my stay and plan to return."

"Wonderful stay, great deal! I thoroughly researched hotels in the Tampa area before booking this hotel. I am happy to report what many have discovered already: Wingate by Wyndham Tampa North is not only a great deal, but one of the best places you'll stay at . . . ever. Forgive me for the long review, but here's why:

The room: Sure, it's a typical standard (small) room, but it makes up for it with its amenities. Seriously, the most comfortable beds, sheets, and pillows you've ever slept on. If you don't like the 4 DIFFERENT PILLOWS they offer you initially, they will gladly bring up a 5th, 6th, or 7th different type of pillow for you. A large dresser with 4 huge drawers to unpack your clothes into. A desk with FREE wireless. An alarm clock that serves as a true radio and i-Pod hookup. Forget about a sofa--how about a RECLINER with a reading lamp and end table to read your daily (free) USA Today?! An empty refrigerator (you know, one without those overly priced snacks and alcohol most hotels try to give you), so that you can go down to the local Super Wal-Mart to buy essentials. Microwave oven that actually works and cooks your food evenly. Marble bathroom counter top and tiled shower with Moen Showerhead/faucet. Small safe in large closet. OK, so the TV isn't a flat-screen, but they gave me basic cable, which allowed me to watch CNN and ESPN. My 6-year old loved that he was able to watch all his Cartoon Network shows.

My husband works at a high-end "Strip" property in Vegas, and I can tell you that, between the amenities and customer service, his hotel would've been given a run for its money if the Wyndham was out here. I was very impressed with Wingate by Wyndham, and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to stay at an affordable hotel with high-end amenities.

"We stayed here for two nights on a tour round Florida from the UK. We arrived late from the airport, were greeted cheerfully and quickly given our rooms, which was good as we had been travelling 20 hours. The beds are really comfortable and the hotel is quiet. The breakfast is good, with some hot choices and great waffles. Particularly liked the sliced fresh fruit. There is a good pool and a well stocked fitness centre. "Our family of 4 including 2 teenagers just returned from a 5 night stay at the Wingate. The hotel was very clean, very good hot/cold breakfast with waffles, toast, pastries that meets both business and family needs. Coffee can use some improvement (of course Starbucks, etc. would be better). Beds were very comfortable and TV worked well. Housekeeping did a very nice job. We selected the hotel based on the reviews here and was not disappointed. Certainly deserves the tripadvisor ratings. Good location for the airport (30 minutes), Busch Gardens (10 minutes) and Legends Field (35 minutes). To the Clearwater, Madeira Beach areas expect 40-50 minute drive. The fitness cener and whirlpool area were not used due to our schedule but very adequate. Outdoor pool available."

"We stayed five days in the North Tampa area (Busch Gardens, University of South Florida). We researched all of the value (2-plus star) hotels. The Wingate by Wyndham was hands-down the best option. Bruce B. Downs (the location of the hotel) is clean, safe and offers many options for dinner and entertainment (many restaurants, 20-cinema movie). The hotel back up to the nature preserve. The hotel is relatively new, very clean, and chock-full of amentities (fitness center, hot tub, internet access, business center, complimentary hot breakfast). Each room has LodgeNet (pay per view) access, hbo, and a good offering of channels. Each room has both a safe and a refridgerator. Every morning, guests receive a complimentary copy of USA Today. The rooms are very quiet. You can't hear the tv from the neighboring room, or the traffic from outside. The staff was very polite, and helpful."

"We were visiting Tampa for a sad reason. My only sister had just died of cancer and we had driven from Az to attend the funeral. Because of the emergency trip we brought our pet with us. When we arrived in Tampa we could not locate a hotel/motel which was pet friendly near Land o' Lakes FL. As a last resort we drove into the Wingate on Bruce B. Downs Blvd. My wife went in expecting to be told "no pets" but to the contrary we were treated by the staff with sincere caring for us. They made every effort to locate a room in their hotel for us for the night and then worked very diligently to find a room for the second night. They were booked due to a soccer tournament. Dara at the registration desk, Steve in maintenance and Najwa the general manager were all very kind and wonderful. The facility was very clean, well maintained and modern with a nice fitness room. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. They even offered to carry our bags to the room we transferred to for the second night. It was a nice upgrade at no additional cost. The hotel was very pet friendly and made our Standard Poodle feel at home. The location was very convenient to the Interstate 75 and local shopping and restaurants. But the wonderful hospitality of the staff and management brought back the true meaning of inn keeping for travelers who are tried and experiencing a family sadness. We will always remember the stay at the Wingate with warm thoughts of a staff who really care and reached out to help us in a time of personal sadness."

"We came in late and were leaving early the next morning. Even though we were not able to use all of the facilities, we could see there were plenty. Free internet, free printer, free gym, free breakfast... amazing. What was even better was the staff. "Stayed here for a business trip with no particular expectations...it was chosen for me. I was pleasantly surprised to find exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Richie and John were prompt with services, gave a wonderful suggestion for dinner and when the taxi didn't arrive on time....they drove us in the shuttle bus to the restaurant! Very roomy rooms, very clean bathroom and comfortable bed. Between the complimentary wine and snacks the night before to the complete egg/sausage/waffle breakfast, I was very pleased with this hotel! "We stayed here for a mini vacation to Busch Gardens, which we had booked through the Busch Gardens website. We were very happy. The Hotel was clean, the staff was nice. The breakfest was the best, I was surprised by bacon and sausage and a Waffle Iron. The room where clean, down comforter was nice and warm, sheets were clean, internet acess was available through wireless or a wired connection for Free. I couldn't get a wifi signal, but the wired in room box worked great, I was able to keep up with my Fantasy Football. While eating breakfest one morning a staff member offered and gave us some coupons to the a local resteraunt for free kids meals it was a welecome surprise. Lots of good places to eat close by, the Movie Theatre is pretty close for a walk, but I would suggest a drive. Busch Garden was about 20mins away Just get on Briuce down and head southwest.... I would definately go back to the Wingate when I go back to Tampa."

"My fiance and I were in Tampa visiting family and we decided to stay at the Wingate. We were very pleased with our stay. Once we arrived the staff members were very friendly and upbeat and they took the time to talk to us about the hotel's accomadations which included a free breakfast, a workout room with a whirlpool and also the business center. The business center was great! There was never a wait to use the computers and that was definitely convenient for us. It felt like we were at home! The rooms were very clean and the breakfast was very good as well. I think we were expecting "typical" hotel breakfast food like small cereal boxes and milk but they really had a large selection of food and drinks so we were pleasently surprised. We really had a great stay and would definitely stay during our next visit to sunny Tampa!"

"We (my family of 4-2 children) visited the Wingate while attending a family member's graduation from USF. Not only was the place spotless, the breakfast was awesome. I've never seen anyone have pre-prepared Belgium waffle mix ready to pour in a hot and ready waffle maker! If the stay, friendly staff, and great breakfast wasn't enough, we were delayed for 2 hours and had already checked out and was waiting in the lobby. Erica Miller did everything from keep up company, provide tape and paper for some raffle tickets we decided to bring to the luncheon we were attending to make us feel right at home. Even though they had no obligation to us after we had already checked out. I will definielty look for this chain for my future travels. Thanks Erica and the rest of the staff for making things great!"

"I have been staying at the Wingate Inn New Tampa for years. The staff goes out of their way to make our stay pleasurable. They have a great happy hour with complimentary wine and beer. In passing one day I commented that they didn't have Budweiser Select and that it was my favorite. Sure enough the following week they had it, and ever since they always make sure they have some for me. Somehow I also seem to receive complimentary upgrades without even asking. The staff is very professional and friendly. Any time I'm traveling in Tampa this is the only place I stay. It's my home away from home."

"This hotel was simply wonderful! As a constant business traveller, I spend most of my time living out of a suitcase moving from one average hotel to the next. However, my stay at the Wingate Inn was one of the most comfortable & convenient stays I have had in a long time. At check-in, I was offered a cold bottle of water and friendly conversation with the manager, Eric. The guest room was incredibly spacious - a refrigerator, a microwave, & a safe in the room. And the room was CLEAN!!!!! The breakfast spread in the morning was overwhelming - eggs, bacon, fresh bread, & best of all, make your own waffles. Delicious! But, most of all - the staff was amazing! From the housekeepers that greeted me in the halls, to the breakfast attendant, Rodrigo. The entire staff seems overwhelmingly committed to guest happiness! Well Done, Eric! Please pass along my praise to your staff. There is no doubt that I will be back, because I have already booked my next reservation."

"I am the travel coordinator for my daughter's gym. We have stayed at a lot of places this season and a handful of them turned out to be awful so I was very anxious when we got to this hotel. I was happily surprised that this hotel turned out to be wonderful! The beds were so comfortable, the rooms were clean, and the staff was very polite and helpful! We didn't get to use the pool that weekend because it was being repaired but they were more than happy to bring us to their sister hotel via the hotel shuttle for anyone who wanted to swim. Of all 10 hotels we stayed at this season, this was the ONLY one that I did not receive any complaints about!"
